BUILDING MAINTENANCE:  Paul Gillis
Paul presented an article for the news letter that was approved by the council.  A motion was approved to allow Paul to prepare and submit a grant application to Norcross Wild Life Association for materials needed to construct a Pergola for the Patio. On July 25th Heather Blakely, Earl Johnson and myself met with Department of Environmental Protection representatives at a meeting room in Springfield. This was an informational meeting and a D.E.P. decision on whether or not we should have a public water source at the Senior Center will be forth coming. We (town) believe we are in compliance. D.E.P. believes we are in violation. I quoted the regulation that defines our use “not more than 25 people “at 60 events per year. They claim we didn’t provide for the future. I inquired what regulation covers the future. They responded – it’s an opinion. I stated that if there is a need for a public water supply it will be covered under phase II “Senior Housing”
All of the above reports were accepted by the Council on Aging.
OLD BUSINESS
Cleaning supplies approved at our last meeting, not to exceed $421.00 have been received but no invoice at this time.
NEW BUSINESS
Motion made and approved to notify Verizon to have a new line set up for the outreach worker. It was noted that she requires an answering service that would require her password to access. Corrinne mentioned that Verizon supplies voice mail access at no cost on her phone service. Brad will check into this before ordering the new line. This is a definite need for the outreach phone line. There was also a suggestion that we purchase shades for the windows for any future movie presentations. Brad will check with the Building Inspector to see if the type of blind used in the Town Hall is o.k. If so, we would need an estimate as to their cost. It was agreed that the lock system in the senior center needs to be changed. Access to various rooms needs to be limited and access to the building also needs to be addressed.  Brad will put together a suggested listing of each room access and will check with Linda on the system used in the Town Hall. Brad distributed a proposed breakdown of the budgets approved at the town meeting. As the town does not have a balanced budget, previous approved items could change.
COMPUTER UPDATE
Mr. Peret has three of the computers completed and has one with our new printer hooked up. It was approved by the COA to limit who could use the printer to those that have been trained on it. Basic instructions for e mails are available at the Senior Center. Mr. Peret has offered to teach the basics of computer use. Brad will find out when he would be available. We now have cables that allow users access to the e mail system. It will take time before anyone can use these computers due to time restraints.
CORRESPONDENCE – distributed on a weekly basis.
Meeting adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
